Davao City is a progressive city where skyscrapers are built left and right, the crime rate is low and large investments from different business sectors are continuously pouring in. Considering the number of large malls, expensive shops and luxurious restaurants thriving here, this rapidly advancing city is clearly a fertile ground for entrepreneurs. This city also ranked 6th in the Top Livable City List in the Philippines.
Exploring Davao City
Despite the city’s urbanization, it still managed to take care of its natural attractions and maintain its cleanliness. Davao city won the award of the cleanest city in 1999 & 2004 and was 2nd from 2001 – 2003. On top of its cleanliness, we noticed that there are lots of sturdy and concrete houses here where some are very imposing and grandiose. This gives the impression that most of its citizens are really enjoying the city’s economic gains.
Safety
Talking about safety, their police force is one of the most renowned in the country. Their tight security is so well-known throughout the country that based on the news, a kidnapped Filipino-Chinese woman lured her detractors in this city by tricking them that she has a very large account here knowing how tight the security this city has. When they arrived here later, the kidnappers got caught, some got killed and she was rescued.
It’s also amazing to know that this place isn’t short of tourist attractions. It lets you enjoy modern life while being close to the beauty of the countryside at the same time. Davao City’s surrounding forests with century-old trees are all well-taken care of, together with its fauna through its animal sanctuaries. It also serves as a gateway to Davao’s fantastic beaches in Samal Island.
This is just an introduction to our Davao blog series. Please watch out for our upcoming posts on some of the wonderful tourist attractions that we’ve visited in Davao.

Getting to Davao City
By Land (Roll-On/Roll-Off):
Philtranco Bus Company offers a bus trip from Metro Manila to Davao City. Their Pasay/Cubao to Davao fare is P2160.00 for ordinary with 2 ferry included and P2730.00 for aircon with 2 ferries included.
Bus schedules:

By Air:
Considering the pricey one-way cost and the long travel time of the bus through roll-on/roll-off, most people wait for promo flights to go to Davao City from the following airline companies below:
Cebu Pacific
Philippine Airlines
What’s nice about Davao City is that it has an international airport (Francisco Bangoy International Airport) which allows visitors outside the country to visit it directly. But some flights require a connecting flight from Manila.
By Ferry:
If Davao City is the common gateway to Mindanao by air because of its international airport, CDO (Cagayan de Oro) is the ferry gateway to Mindanao.
Please take note that the travel time from CDO to Davao is around 5-7 hours.
