Getting to Siquijor
If you’re coming from the country’s capital (Metro Manila), it’s best to take a plane straight to Dumaguete City then ride a ferry going to Siquijor (Ferry fare is P160 + P15 terminal fee) which takes around 40 minutes. Always watch out for promo flights from airlines like Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines (PAL).
Most people I know take out Philippine Airlines from their list because it’s not a budget airline like the first three. In our experience, there are few occasions where its promo fare is much lower than the rest. The last PAL ticket we bought was just this May 2012.
We were staying in La Castellana, Negros Occidental when we went there. We took a bus from La Castellana to Kabankalan City which is a two-hour commute then had our lunch first. From Kabankalan City, we took a bus going straight to Dumaguete City which took us about 6-7 hours.

Explorer’s Tip
1. Tour the island using a tricycle only to save money if you’re just traveling solo or there are just three of you. The regular rate is P1,000. If you travel in a large group, you can consider getting a van at P2,000.
If you want someone to pick you up in the terminal right away to head straight in your resort room without hassle, you can contact “Tata” using his mobile number: 09351927565 to set up an appointment with him.
2. JJ’S CAFÉ & BACKPACKER’S VILLAGE in Lalao, San Juan serves great food. That’s according to our friends Roy and Mike whom we met in Palawan. They said that they didn’t like the food in the resort they were in so they tried this restaurant and loved it.
3. Save money by eating outside the resort. According to the lady that we were chatting, some people who checked-in the resort, even foreigners from developed countries eat in Carenderias (local eatery) to save and perhaps to have a taste of the real local food.
Hi, looks like you had fun in siquijor… The waters are amazing… I wished to go back there and explore the mountains and the faith healer’s village…..it’s fun in the Philippines….
Hi Gee, it was really an unforgettable experience. Given the chance to visit it again later, we’ll go to the places we missed like Kagusuan Beach, Cantabon Cave and Guiwanon Spring Park.
I agree, it’s definitely more fun here. :)

I just updated our post with the correct title of your cafe/restaurant and contact number then I added your website.
Congratulations to your move to a bigger location! I’ll make sure to update our post again next year with that new address and new title “Avalon Beach Resort and Castaways Restaurant”.

hi there, me and my friends are planning to visit Siquijor this October and we are looking for a place to stay. (a House that we can rent good for 3 days and 2 nights w/ kitchen, television, rest room and an air conditioned room) maybe you can refer us a house if not a house a good hotel or a pension house..
we are very excited about this trip. hope you can help us.. =) please do response
Hi Jelly,
I’ve been trying to find transient houses in Siquijor long time ago then tried again now but can’t find any. For a low-cost hotel, I recommend checking out Salagdoong Beach Resort’s Hotel Agripino. If you’re willing to spend more, you can check out Coco Grove Beach resort which is the best resort we’ve been so far in the entire country. I’ve listed both of their contact details above and written blog posts for both.
Have a nice trip!
Regards,
EJ
Hi EJ!
I’m planning to go to Siquijor this month and this site has been very informative and helpful! One place (U-Story) sort of stood out for me but both the mobile number and the email address posted don’t seem to work. Do you by chance have an alternative contact information for this place?
Thanks a lot
H
Hi H,
I believe the reason you’re unable to contact the updated number is the poor cellphone signal in that part of SIquijor where U-story is located. We’ve experienced zero cellphone signal in many parts of Siquijor using my wife’s SMART sim and my SUN sim.
I’ve tried contacting their number yesterday evening and got a ring but when I tried the same number again this morning, I’m getting a message saying that the number could not be reached. One other way to message them is through their website’s contact page in the link below:
http://ustory-siquijor.com/Ustory-Siquijor-Contact.html
I hope you get a reply back soon. Happy trip!
Regards,
EJ
Hi EJ,
Thanks for the reply! I’m getting the same response with the contact number but at least now i know that it’s still working. Must be the poor signal. Anyhow, i’ve left a message instead. I hope it gets through.
Thanks again!!!
H
Hi H,
It’s my pleasure to help you out. I’ve been frustrated by things like that before so I really hope you get a reply from them soon.
Regards,
EJ
Hi! We will have our Team Building in Siquijor this coming May and I’m glad I came across your site as it was a big help. Although, we already have in mind the following locations to go to…just can’t decide which one is the ideal venue for the said activity…these are: Treasure Island Beach Bungalows/Charisma Beach Resort and Restaurant/Salagdoong Beach Resort-Agripino and White Villas Beach Resort…The first three I was able to gather info via your site. However, can’t get any info on White Villas. I hope you can help me about this…pls let me know also which one is the best place for the team building..thank u!
Hi Lerio,
That’s cool! It’s good to know that my blog helped you out in planning your trip.
Regarding White Villas, they actually have a website which is http://www.WhiteVillasResort.com.
Their contact number posted is Mobile no. +63 (0)908 1656 277 or +63 (0)977 8244 677

Have a fun team building!
